Dopo la splendida parentesi del Masters, il main tour riparte dal Galles con il Welsh Open. Da oggi fino venerdì si svolgeranno i quattro turni di qualificazione a Prestatyn, con l'eccezione dei matches dei 3 gallesi in tabellone (Williams, Stevens e Dale) i quali disputeranno i loro incontri a Newport durante la fase televisiva del torneo. . -

Jimmy White is just one game away from a Welsh Open qualifying showdown with Ken Doherty after staging a remarkable comeback to beat Rod Lawler 5-4 in the second round of the qualification tournament in Prestatyn.
White now just has to beat Rory McLeod on Thursday, and if he does, he will then face former World Champion Doherty for a place at the main event in Newport which takes place from 16-22 February.
The six-time world championship finalist was lucky to scrap past Lawler though as he looked dead and buried early in the match when he fell to a 4-0 deficit.
Two scrappy frames got him back into the match though and then a break of 70 really put the pressure on Lawler.
A break of 45 helped him to then level the match and he took the victory thanks to a break of 67.
It was not such a good day however for former world number 12 David Gray who was beaten 5-2 by Stephen Craigie.

Per curiosità statistico-aritmetica, ho fatto anche per il Galles la somma delle teste di serie e nella parte alta si ottiene 71 contro 65 nella parte bassa. Spero non si generino di nuovo polemiche che non sono (e non erano) nelle mie intenzioni. . -

Grande Gimmi che ha battuto 5-2 MecLeod, mentre Tramp è sotto 3-4 con Pincis. Strano, avrei pensato che il più giovane avrebbe vinto facile.

Judd Trump lost his perfect record in qualifying events this season but Jimmy White set up a mouthwatering showdown against Ken Doherty at the Welsh Open qualifiers in Prestatyn.
Teenager Trump was hoping to set up a final qualifier against another hot prospect Jamie Cope but was defeated 5-3 by former world championship quarter-finalist Barry Pinches.
Pinches broke open the match in the seventh frame with a scintillating break of 136 before taking another one to clinch the match.
White meanwhile never needed to be at his best to beat Rory McLeod 5-2 and set-up the meeting with former world champion Doherty.
The six-time world championship finalist only produced two half-centuries in the match but it was enough against an out-of-sorts McLeod.
Meanwhile, David Gilbert already knows he will be at the main event in Newport - his five 5-3 victory over David Rice was enough to book a final qualifier with Mark Williams in a game that will be played on the televised tables at the Newport Leisure Centre.

il fatto è ke ahimè non so quale sia il termine inglese per effettuare una ricerca....... (ho provato con meeting, ho provato anke a mettere O'Sullivan-Carter 12-0 ke mi pare sia il numero di volte ke i due si sono incontrati - ke corrisponde ovviamente al numero di volte ke Ronnie ha vinto

Se sapessi come dicono in inglese la cosa sarebbe più facile...
cmq l'unico indizio ke posso dare è ke mentre trasmettono il mondiale, ad ogni incontro fanno vedere il "testa a testa", quindi magari se si effettua una ricerca sui match del mondiale (ad esempio 2008) forse si può trovare qualcosa boh.......... -
